Japan is very tradition driven. It has an intensity and solemnity with which Im not familiar nor really comfortable with. Luckily nor are my in-laws. Theyre very smiley, supportive, loud, funny, laugh-y people. And this is not a typical Japanese type event.
It felt weird to be partaking in a buddhist type wedding but I had absolutely no idea what was going on ever so I just "followed the pack" so to speak. My wife was raised and is Christian, as am I, so to reiterate, it was weird, but it was for the experience. And really, my wife just wanted us to wear kimonos, and eat mega meals, and have it all done cheaply.
Hes explaining what we're going to be doing. Im sweating.
Grand ma and Grand pa.
At one point, I had to read something in Japanese. I have no idea what it says or means. And I do a very poor job of it.
Youll see us drink from plates. We're drinking sake. The practice is said to cleanse both body and mind. It does a great job of cleaning the body, but always clouds my mind... Hmm..
After the wedding was a fantastic meal with her whole family. They made me give an address to the family in English and my wife translated. I said nice words. Her grand dad made me do it again because likes hearing me speak. He likes my voice. Awwwww...
Asami's best friends. Sorry guys, theyre all taken.
I absolutely LOVE everything written in English. None of it makes great sense, but it all makes some sense. And that sense is hilarious. This is on a public cigarette butt bin.
